This might just be Edinburgh's best recent new opening. Whirlybird opened on Edinburgh's iconic Victoria Street and describes itself as quietly Scottish.
Great starters like the fried haggis and ox cheek with date ketchup, and the smoked mackerel salad. But it was the pan-fried hake with a stunning champagne velouté that was the star for me, and I was so grateful to have a spoon so I didn't miss a drop. Rob really enjoyed the flat iron steak, and we finished by sharing the burnt cheesecake with poached rhubarb. Delicious food, great cocktails and wine, gorgeous decor and warm, friendly service.
