St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Aberdeen

Aberdeen has a Tartan Kirkie, and once you know why you can't unsee it. This is St Mary's Pro-Cathedral on Carden Place, built in the 1860s using different coloured stone, including granite from Rubislaw, red granite from Tyrebagger, dark granite from Kemnay and red sandstone from Turriff.

Put all those colours together and Aberdonians gave it the nickname The Tartan Kirkie. A bomb badly damaged it in 1943 and the east end was rebuilt, and today it's a Category A listed church.
