The history of this Inverurie pub genuinely surprised me. Most people know the Drouthy Laird as a popular spot for food and drinks in the heart of Inverurie, but it was never meant to be a pub. The building was originally intended to be a hotel, but when war broke out the plans were abandoned, and it later served as a soup kitchen.
The food caught my attention too, from stovies croquettes to pork with black pudding and apple, plus one of the best steak sandwiches I've had in a long time. It's far more than your average pub lunch.
