Hostal de los Reyes Católicos, A Coruña

Founded by the Catholic Monarchs to provide accommodation for pilgrims completing the Way of St James, it is now one of the most remarkable monuments in the famous Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela.

It was founded in 1499 and was intended to provide accommodation for pilgrims who, having completed their journey along the Camino de Santiago, arrived at their destination. It is a stunning Gothic building which has now been converted into a Parador de Turismo.

One of its most striking features is its beautiful 16th-century Plateresque latticework façade. On either side of the doorway, two medallions bearing the effigies of the Catholic Monarchs can be seen. It features four inner courtyards. One of the most striking features is the exquisite chapel designed by Enrique de Egas.
