Home to the highest institutional body in Vizcaya, the Casa de Juntas in Gernika stands next to the legendary Tree, a symbol for all Basques and a meeting place for the members of the Council of the Lordship of Bizkaia since the Middle Ages. The building, in a purely neoclassical style, was constructed between 1826 and 1833.
