The Alhambra is a beautiful complex of buildings and gardens. The tree-lined avenues are lush, providing pleasant shade and coolness, enhanced by the abundance of water flowing through its streams.
It was the greatest political and aristocratic centre in the Muslim West. The palace complex consists of rectangular courtyards of great beauty and numerous fountains, as well as the Nasrid buildings that served as residences for the kings and their servants.
The oldest building is the Alcazaba. One of the most important structures is the Torre de la Vela, from which one can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Alhambra. The Patio de los Leones and its fountain are among the most beautiful in the complex.
