The castle-palace of Olite was the residence of the kings of Navarre until the kingdom was united with Castile in the 16th century. It has been a listed National Monument since 1925. It underwent alterations during the 13th and 14th centuries, but the most significant development took place during the reign of King Charles III the Noble.
A tour can begin at the Old Palace, now a Parador hotel, the Gothic Church of Santa María and the Romanesque Church of San Pedro, which features a cloister and a Gothic tower topped by a spire.
