Castillo de Priego de Córdoba
Castillo de Priego de Córdoba · Córdoba
Por Spain ·

It was originally an Arab fortress, but was rebuilt between the 13th and 14th centuries. Its military character gives it an austere appearance. It consists of a walled perimeter with square towers and one cylindrical tower.
Access is via two pointed horseshoe arches, framed by an alfiz. The Keep was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1943. Situated in the square-shaped parade ground, it comprises three storeys covered with barrel vaults. The Keep dates from the 13th century, when Priego was a commandery of the Order of Calatrava.
