Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, Valencia

The city of Valencia is home to one of Europe’s largest science and culture complexes. It comprises stunning buildings such as the Hemisfèric and the Oceanogràfic, and is renowned for its avant-garde architecture, designed by the renowned architects Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela.

Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences stretches for almost two kilometres along the former course of the River Turia.

It comprises six major elements: the Hemisfèric (an IMAX cinema where digital screenings are shown), the Umbracle (a beautiful viewing point with gardens), the Museu de les Ciències (offering a wide range of interactive activities), the Oceanogràfic (Europe’s largest aquarium, home to over 20,000 animals representing 650 different species), the Palau de les Arts (dedicated to opera, dance, symphony concerts and other musical performances) and the Àgora (a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts and a wide range of activities).

The various centres that make up this complex organise conferences, exhibitions, screenings, guided tours and workshops related to science, technology, nature and art, all designed to stimulate curiosity and learning amongst a wide range of audiences.
