Torres de Serranos
Torres de Serranos · Valencia
Por Spain ·

It is a gate in the late medieval city walls. It was built by master builder Pere Balaguer in the 14th century to defend one of the busiest entrances to old Valencia.
It consists of two polygonal towers flanking the gate, which features a semicircular voussoir arch. The interior façade features large arched openings, designed to serve as galleries. In the 16th century, it was converted into a prison for nobles and knights, and remained in use as such until 1887.
