Designed by the Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry, the building’s avant-garde architecture provides a magnificent setting for showcasing masterpieces of modern and contemporary art.
Since its opening in 1997, the Guggenheim Bilbao and ‘Puppy’ – Jeff Koons’ floral sculpture situated outside the building – have become Bilbao’s most internationally recognised symbol. The collection includes works by leading figures in the art world: David Salle, Chillida, Jeff Koons, Louise Bourgeois and Robert Rauschenberg are just a few examples.
The Guggenheim also offers a range of activities for visitors wishing to broaden their knowledge of art.
