Museo Atlántico Lanzarote
Museo Atlántico Lanzarote · Lanzarote
Por Spain ·

Opened in 2016, the Museo Atlántico in Lanzarote comprises ten underwater installations that invite reflection on contemporary issues and the use of natural resources.
The sculptures by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, who specialises in underwater art that advocates for the protection of the oceans, are spread across an area of around 100 square metres of sandy seabed.
All the pieces are designed to blend in with the endemic marine life and facilitate the reproduction of species native to the island of Lanzarote, as they have been constructed using environmentally friendly, pH-neutral materials.
The Atlantic Museum represents a call for the preservation, conservation and education regarding the marine environment and nature.
Visits to the museum, together with the certification required to dive to a depth of 15 metres (which can be obtained by completing a one- or two-day basic course), are organised through the island’s diving centres. Location: Playa Blanca, near the Coloradas area, at a depth of 12 metres.
