It is situated on the Avilés estuary, a five-minute walk from the town’s historic centre. Its cultural programme, which has an international flavour, includes exhibitions, theatre, dance, film, music, lectures and gastronomic events.
The centre features various architectural spaces that stand out for their design and functionality: the Auditorium, whose stage can open out onto the centre’s own square; the Dome, used for exhibitions; the 20-metre-high Observation Tower, with a restaurant offering views across the whole city; and the Multipurpose Building, which houses the cinema, meeting and conference rooms, and the visitor reception centre.
