During the Middle Ages, this was the gate through which goods and people entered, to control access to the city. The west side features a fortified, crenellated gate with a semicircular arch, inside which is another horseshoe-shaped arch. It also features a statue of Saint Ildefonso and the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs.
