Designed by the renowned Italian architect Carlo Fontana, it was inaugurated in 1738. It is built in the Baroque style, with a circular floor plan and a large vault 65 metres high. Just a few metres from the basilica, you can visit the former Loyola Tower House, where St Ignatius was born in 1491.
