Palacio de Gaudí
Palacio de Gaudí · León
Por Spain ·

This is the Episcopal Palace of Astorga, a building designed by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí, the leading figure of Catalan Modernism.
A Modernist building in the Neo-Gothic style, it comprises a castle, a church and a stately mansion, with an impressive exterior built from white granite. It currently houses the Museum of the Roads.
As regards the history of this monument, it was Gaudí himself who, in 1887, designed the building, although it was completed by the architect Ricardo García Guereta. It seems clear that Gaudí intended the building’s design to be deeply respectful of the city’s history and applied his own vision of the Neo-Gothic style to the palace’s exterior.
