El Capricho de Gaudí
El Capricho de Gaudí · Santander
Por Spain ·

It is a 19th-century work by Antonio Gaudí. In this instance, his Modernist style experiments with the fusion of music and architecture, achieving a novel effect in this building. It blends arabesque elements (tiles, exposed brickwork, etc.) with Neo-Gothic and tree-like forms.
A cylindrical tower stands out, decorated with ceramics depicting sunflowers. Its stained-glass windows are also notable, featuring references to music and nature (animals playing various instruments). As for the ornamentation, Gaudí used iron in an attempt to break the mould.
