This square is home to some of the most significant buildings in this beautiful city, including the Town Hall (or Palacio de las Cadenas), the Parador hotel in the Palacio del Deán Ortega, the Palacio del Marqués de Mancera, the Sacred Chapel of El Salvador, the Basilica of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares and the old granary.

The square also features a monument to Andrés de Vandelvira and a Renaissance fountain.
