La Seo o Catedral de San Salvador, Zaragoza

As early as the 1st century BC, a basilica stood on this very site, which during the Visigothic period was known as the Church of Saint Vincent. It also served as a mosque.

However, it was in the 12th century that the first Christian church was built on the site of all these previous structures; it was oriented northwards rather than eastwards, as was typical at the time, so as not to coincide with the direction of Muslim prayers towards Mecca. Changes were made subsequently.

La Seo also incorporates Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The main door, dating from the 18th century, is in the Baroque style. Inside, visitors can explore the Tapestry Museum, which houses one of the finest collections of Flemish tapestries in the world.
