Centro Botín
Centro Botín · Santander
Por Spain ·

A cultural centre dedicated to contemporary art, music, film, theatre and literature. The building, designed by the architect and Pritzker Prize winner Renzo Piano, forms part of the Pereda Gardens and occupies a prime location on the shores of Santander Bay.
Opened in 2017, Piano’s design, created in collaboration with the Spanish architect Luis Vidal, is intended to become one of the city’s architectural and cultural landmarks. The structure resembles a pier comprising two sections supported by columns, rising to the height of the surrounding treetops and partially suspended over the sea with a single aim: to coexist in harmony with its surroundings.
It comprises two exhibition halls, classrooms, workspaces, a freely accessible roof terrace offering unique views of Santander and its bay, and an auditorium with a capacity for 300 people, which also provides a stunning panoramic view, with the sea and mountains as a backdrop. Location: situated in the centre of Santander, next to the seafront promenade.
