Palacio Real de Aranjuez, Madrid

This palace and the complex of historic buildings to which it is attached were begun by Philip II and completed by Charles III, which is why it features a wide variety of architectural styles.

The palace is characterised by the white and red colours that dominate its façade. It originated as a country estate and took on its monumental appearance during the reign of Philip II, although it acquired its present appearance following the renovation carried out by Charles III, who added a large parade ground.

The palace is in the Herrerian style. The façade is particularly striking, adorned with statues of the three kings who were involved in its construction.

Of paramount importance for their beauty and craftsmanship are the staircase with its Rococo balustrade, the work of Bonavía, and the Porcelain Room, whose walls are covered in porcelain.
