Murallas de Dalt Vila, Ibiza

The ancient city walls, built in the 16th century to protect the city from Turkish attacks, took forty years to construct. The walled enclosure is shaped like an irregular heptagon, with a defensive bastion projecting from each of its corners.

There are several entrances to the enclosure, the main one being the Portal de Ses Taules. Other notable gates include the Portal Nou, the Portella de Sella and the Es Soto Fosc tunnel. The walls enclose a significant historical legacy, which has been declared a World Heritage Site.
