Parque El Capricho Alameda de Osuna
Parque El Capricho Alameda de Osuna · Madrid
Por Spain ·

It was created in the late 18th century by the Countess-Duchess of Benavente. This park is one of the most outstanding and unique examples of a Spanish landscape garden. Its setting, steeped in romanticism, blends Italian and French influences.
You can admire a delightful ‘serpentine’ watercourse with a lake and an island, the jetty or ‘reed house’, the Temple of Bacchus, the ‘old woman’s cottage’, the fort, the chapel, and the ‘bee house’ – a remarkable pavilion built solely for observing the activity of bees. The mansion, a delicate masterpiece by Antonio and Martín López Aguado, once housed numerous paintings by Goya.
A visit is particularly recommended in spring, when you can stroll amidst the fragrance of the lilac groves and cascades of roses.
