Sacré-Cœur Basilica · Paris

The Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre, consecrated in 1919, is one of the most emblematic monuments in Paris. Situated at the top of the Montmartre hill, it offers one of the finest panoramic views of the capital, at an altitude of 130 metres.
Built in the Romanesque-Byzantine style, the basilica is recognisable by its white colour. Inside, the ceiling is decorated with the largest mosaic in France, measuring 480 m². The crypt is also well worth a visit. And to get even higher, visitors can climb up to the dome, from which there is a magnificent 360° view of Paris.
A short walk from the basilica takes you to Place du Tertre and Rue Lepic, leading to the Moulin de la Galette, then a little further on to Place des Abbesses and the Mur des je t'aime, and at the foot of the hill to the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret.
